Tara Simmons @ Rics

Tara Simmons

I went to show my support and take some pictures of Tara Simmons and band. As per usual, a wonderful performance.  Some new material was interlaced in between all the classics everyone knows and loves :)

Powerhouse Panorama + Doch

Whilst I’m in the mood for panoramas, I thought I had better post this one.

Taken at the launch of the refurbished Brisbane Powerhouse, and also the opening of World Press Photo 07.

The band playing on the right are Doch, a talented local group of musicians who make some wonderful Balkan gypsy rhythms.

Brother Espresso

Brother Espresso Pan

One of todays jobs was to take some pics of a coffee shop in the city. So, I took a few pics, then stitched them together.

The guys make a tasty lunch and a very good java fix.

Train Yards

I had a few minutes between shoots today, so I grabbed a few pics from some abandoned train yards. Chad has done some great shots here before, so I thought I’d have a snoop around. I just took some random shots to play with HDR creation.

So far there’s nothing too special about these shots, apart from not blowing out the highlights too much.

Tara ‘The Great’ Simmons

After hearing that this shot had made it into todays Courier Mail, I thought I had better get a move on and upload the pics. Even though I wasn’t credited in the paper, I still am very excited to have my photo make it into page 9.

I had been asked to take some profile shots of a local musician, Tara Simmons. I decided to do the shoot at the Spring Hills Baths, in a 1950′s kind of way. I must apologise for trying to get Tara into the water at a brisk 8am! After a fair deal of swearing we decided that getting into the pool wasn’t going to happen. The Spring Hills Baths made for a wonderful location, such character and history, and I extend a huge thankyou to the owners/management, especially Alex Minchinton for allowing us to shoot there.

Anyway, I’m not one with words. I’ll let the photos do the talking. I think you will agree with how I feel about them.

More pics to come…

I’ve got some big plans for a shoot here. Stay tuned.

I took a few pre shots last week. I asked nicely and got permission too!
